Why are Mormon's forbidden to drink coffee and tea?

I think it is because coffee and tea are addictive and it is addiction itself that is destructive because when you are addicted to anything it takes away a tiny bit of your freedom to act of your own free will. Anything addictive is forbidden.You can only be completely free when you are in control of all your senses.
