HeLP with Ubuntu 10 PLEASE!?

Currently switch-hitting between windows and Ubuntu 10 on my homemade computer. My motherboard is so new that Ubuntu doesn't seem to be reading it right. I am operating at 2.34 when I am capable of running at 3.4 . Is there something wrong with my GDebbie Installer? Am I way off track?
