Failed Smog test... Best option for me is...? Retire or not?

ok...these cars are popular with tuners and the most likely explanation is that the tuner punched out the catalytic converter to increase airflow.....unfortunately for you it also increases pollution......this would also cause the timing fault as the backpressure isn't right and your on board PCM is compensating for it....try changing the cat and see if you can p on that alone!!!!
